Hey, no more tumblr porn. At least that's the theory.

I know people are still going to look for porn, but I think that making it more inaccessible, that is, if you have to go to breakmycomputerXXXpornvideos.com to look at it, it will be less normalized.

You know, this has been interesting to watch. I have a lot of friends in the gamer/fanfic writing world, and seeing their reactions has me feeling a couple of ways.

To the very idea that they'd FINALLY be doing something about the rampant porn and child porn issues: THRILLED. Chagrined that it took them losing something to finally address it, but hey, I'll take it.

I do understand some of the panic over the fact that even though Tumblr is supposed to only be targeting porn, etc., they are notoriously terrible at implementation, and are already flagging pets, arms, dinosaurs, etc., as porn. Damned near anything.

What makes me really sad? Fucking PornHub is zeroing in on the users as a "run this way" savior. Barf. For now, it's all just a major shit show. They should have done the right thing from the start.

Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I am encouraged by this tumblr change. I know they did it for purely financial reasons, but it's a great improvement from the conventional wisdom of years ago that pornography was the only profitable internet business.

If tumblr was reacting to Apple delisting them from the App Store, then kudos to Apple for keeping that material out. Just like for tumblr, I'm sure Apple also made a financial calculation that their business was better without pornography. That says more customers strongly oppose it than want it.

Hmm, Seems like Tumblr is up for sale and Pornhub has shown interest in buying it.

I heard about this, and am bummed. I know a lot of radfems that connect via Tumblr... and they'll all run screaming if this comes to pass.

eh, another social network plataform will arise if that's the case. I worry about kids and teens being exposed to pornhub as if it's "wholesome" whatsoever. that what concerns me the most.
